Types of Wood
There are many types of wood to choose from when considering new furnishings or cabinetry. Cherry and Maple are quite popular and durable since they are hardwoods. There are also variations of Maple such as Bird's Eye Maple and Curly Maple that have very unique and beautiful figures. Pine is also nice in a rustic kitchen, as is Douglas Fir. As softwoods, however, Pine and Douglas Fir will mark considerably more over time; though some people find this adds character to the cabinets.

Kitchen Design
You are by no means confined to one choice of wood. Many clients choose to mix different types of wood or add a painted section or stand-alone unit to their kitchen design.
